Anuj Pratap Singh, involved in robbing a jewelry store in Sultanpur, has been neutralized by the police. During an encounter with the Lucknow STF team in Unnao District, Anuj was shot while his accomplice managed to escape. Anuj was rushed to the district hospital where doctors declared him dead. Before this, Mangesh Yadav, also linked to the same case, was neutralized by the STF.
According to information,
robbery suspect Anuj Pratap Singh and his accomplice had an altercation with the STF in Achalganj police station area of Unnao. One offender was injured while the other successfully fled. The injured offender was identified as Anuj Pratap Singh, a resident of Mohanganj police station area in Amethi, son of Dharamraj Singh.
The injured shooter was first sent to a government hospital via a 108 ambulance, later being referred to the district hospital. Upon arrival, doctors declared him deceased. Further investigations are being conducted by Achalganj police.
Anuj Entered the Shop First
The video released by the police of the Sultanpur robbery showed Anuj Pratap Singh entering the shop first. He was seen threatening Bharat Soni, the shopkeeper, and his son with a pistol. After Anuj, four other gang members entered. Anuj was a close associate of gang leader Vipin Singh. He was also involved in a robbery in Gujarat with Vipin Singh.
Prior to this, the STF encountered two other suspects from the Sultanpur robbery case. One suspect, Mangesh Yadav, was killed, while another, Ajay Yadav, was injured and is being treated at the district hospital.
On September 5th, Mangesh Yadav was killed in an encounter with STF. This encounter took place at Hanumanganj Bypass under Rural Police Station in Sultanpur. Mangesh, wanted with a reward of one lakh rupees on his head, had fired the first shot at the police. Police, in self-defense, returned fire. A 32 bore pistol, cartridge, a 315 bore revolver, a bike, and looted jewelry were recovered at the scene. Mangesh Yadav had multiple cases registered against him.
Questions Surround Mangesh's Encounter
Questions have been raised about Mangesh Yadav's encounter. Akhilesh Yadav, the head of SP, claimed it was a murder, not an encounter. He stated that the government uses encounters to intimidate and that officials strategize for such incidents.
Five Robbers Arrested
In connection with the Sultanpur jewelry shop robbery, police have arrested five robbers so far. Mangesh Yadav and Anuj Pratap Singh were neutralized by the police. The captured suspects had a bounty of one lakh rupees each. The arrested suspects are Arvind Yadav, Durgesh Singh, Vivek Singh, Ajay Yadav, and Vipin Singh.
Recovery of Two Kilograms of Gold Jewelry
The robbers were found in possession of 2.7 kilograms of gold jewelry looted from the store. The Bolero vehicle used as a backup during the robbery on August 28th has been recovered. Bolero's owner Tribhuvan Kori was already arrested post-encounter.
Robbery Occurred on August 28th in Sultanpur
On August 28th, masked armed robbers stormed the Om Ornaments shop in the Thatheri Market of Sultanpur. They used weapons to threaten the shop owner and others in the store, successfully executing the heist. The jeweler reported that around 20 million worth of valuables were looted.
