The Lamborghini crash on Kanpur's VIP Road escalated by Monday. Late Sunday, police had filed an FIR against an unidentified driver; by Monday morning, the Lamborghini parked at Gwalatoli police station was seized. During the investigation, Shivam Mishra emerged as the alleged driver.
Commissioner Raghubir Lal emphasized that the law applies equally to everyone, whether it involves a Lamborghini or any other vehicle. The injured were discharged post first aid. The police clarified that no name was included initially due to driver identity issues. However, investigations suggested Shivam was driving, though the defense denies this claim.
Unraveling the Incident
Kanpur's wealthy tobacco businessman’s son, Shivam, was cruising his Lamborghini on VIP Road Sunday. A security vehicle with bouncers followed. Near Rev-3 Mall, the car lost control, hitting an e-rickshaw, a motorcycle, and a pedestrian before crashing into a roadside pole.

The accident attracted a massive crowd. Viral footage shows bouncers lifting Shivam from the driver's seat. Responding swiftly, Gwalatoli police took the car to the station, where it was covered and parked. Social media erupted with anger over the bouncers' behavior and police actions.
Initial Leniency
The police faced criticism post-incident for their handling of the situation. Initially, reports claimed Shivam had a heart attack while driving, causing the accident. All three injured were discharged after treatment. An FIR was filed against the unidentified driver of a Delhi-registered car upon injured Toofik's complaint.

Investigation Intensifies
Monday morning, the commissioner announced their finding that Shivam drove the car, and bouncers helped him out. Police attempted to reach Shivam's residence, but contact was unsuccessful. Further actions are indicated.
No Access for Police
The police team, with investigating officers, reached Shivam’s father KK Mishra’s Swaroop Nagar residence, but entry was denied. Defense lawyer Mrityunjay Mishra claimed that it was Shivam's driver, not Shivam, behind the wheel. Bail applications are filed, with hearings scheduled for Tuesday.

Minor Charges Filed
Police registered the case under BNS sections 281, 125A, 125B, and 324(4). Legal experts note these charges carry a maximum penalty under seven years, making immediate arrest unlikely.
SHO Reassigned
In light of negligence allegations, Commissioner reassigned Gwalatoli SHO Santosh Kumar Gaur immediately. Meanwhile, videos of police personnel posing with the Lamborghini emerged, tarnishing the department's image.
