In Bangladesh, incidents of violence against minorities continue to emerge. The latest case has arisen from the Sadar Upazila in Rajbari district, where a Hindu youth was allegedly murdered by being deliberately run over by a vehicle. According to local media reports, this occurred on Friday, sparking outrage and tension in the area.
The deceased has been identified as Ripon Saha, aged 30. He worked at Karim Filling Station near Golanda Mor in Rajbari. It is reported that a driver refueled his vehicle at the station but refused to pay. When Ripon Saha attempted to stop him, the accused deliberately accelerated the vehicle over him, resulting in his immediate death.

The police have confirmed the incident, stating the vehicle has been confiscated, and its owner, Abul Hashem, has been arrested. Abul Hashem is reportedly the former treasurer of the Rajbari district unit of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). Meanwhile, the vehicle driver, Kamal Hossain, has also been detained by the police from Banibhan Nipara village.

The Police Acknowledge it as Murder
Khondaker Ziaur Rahman, the officer-in-charge of the Rajbari Sadar Police Station, asserted that this is not an accident, but clearly a case of murder. He stated that the victim stood in front of the vehicle when the accused refused to pay and escaped by crushing him under the wheels. The police are in the process of registering a murder case.
Ongoing Atrocities Against the Hindu Community in Bangladesh
Prior incidents of violence against the Hindu community in Bangladesh have also been reported. Earlier this week, another Hindu youth, Sameer Das in Dagonbhuiyan Upazila of Feni district, was brutally murdered with sharp weapons. His body was found in a field.
