The great procession of devotees in Prayagraj Maha Kumbh shows no signs of slowing down. Even after the chaos on Mauni Amavasya, the fervor remains undiminished. Crowds are continuously streaming towards the Sangam shores. According to the fair administration, by 10 AM on January 30, over 2.85 billion people have taken the holy dip in the Ganges. Additionally, more than 10 million devotees are practicing Kalpavasa at the Maha Kumbh.
As of 10 AM today, around 9.3 million devotees have already bathed. Yesterday, on Mauni Amavasya, by 8 PM, a staggering 76.4 million devotees had taken their holy dip. This event marks the largest single-day gathering for a dip in the history of the Kumbh Mela. Prior to this, during Makar Sankranti, 35 million, and on January 28, the day before Mauni Amavasya, approximately 50 million had taken a dip at Sangam.
It is worth noting that following the chaotic events early Wednesday morning before Mauni Amavasya bathing, the situation is now entirely under control. The administration has increased strict measures, transforming the entire fair area into a no-vehicle zone, revoking VVIP passes, and making routes in the Kumbh Mela one-way. Vehicles from nearby districts are being stopped at the district borders. These stringent restrictions will remain in place until February 4.
