Police Officer Suspended for Attacking Priest Over Wedding Altercation

In Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, a heated argument over hastening wedding rituals led to a police officer brutally assaulting a priest. The incident escalated when over a dozen priests submitted a petition to the Joint Commissioner on Saturday, demanding protection for priests during wedding ceremonies and the dismissal of the accused officer.

The Global Priest Council met with the Joint Commissioner to file a complaint against the accused officer, calling for his arrest. According to reports, the officer violently beat up a priest for allegedly delaying the wedding proceedings.

Post-Complaint, Officer Suspended

Joint Commissioner Upendra Agrawal reported that the officer was suspended following departmental proceedings. The case is under investigation, and further action will be based on the report.

Debate with Priest Over Speedy Wedding Rituals

The wedding ritual started around 1:00 AM. The groom pressed the priest to expedite the proceedings, which led to an argument as the priest refused, citing the importance of following the entire ritual process and mantras.

Priest's Brother Threatened with False Molestation Charges

In resisting, Sonu Jatav, the groom-officer, brutally beat Priest Vivek, injuring his head. When Vivek's brother Sachin tried to intervene, he too was beaten and was threatened with being framed in a molestation case and jailed.
