Rahim’s Encounter in Gorakhpur Deepak Gupta Murder Case; Previously Jailed for Cattle Smuggling

An accused in the Deepak Gupta murder case in Gorakhpur has been involved in a police encounter. The accused is identified as Rahim, caught in an injured state. Currently, Rahim is receiving medical treatment in a hospital following his arrest. Previously, another suspect had been arrested, bringing the total count to four apprehended individuals in this case so far.

As per the obtained information, Rahim is noted to be a known smuggler. During a police encounter, he received a gunshot wound. Previously participating in the murder of 19-year-old NEET student Deepak Gupta, Rahim was the target of an intense police search. Acting upon a tip, Gorakhpur's Pipraich police, in collaboration with Kushinagar police, launched a joint operation. While they attempted to catch Rahim, a gunfire exchange resulted in Rahim getting shot, leading to his capture upon being subdued.

Rahim, wounded, hails from the Durgpatti area of Kushinagar. Previously jailed on multiple counts of cattle smuggling in several districts, including Balrampur and Basti, Rahim was a key figure in the incident on Monday night in the Pipraich police region of Gorakhpur. His connection facilitated the involvement of a cattle smuggling gang from Gopalganj, Bihar, in the case.

It’s noteworthy that another accused, Ajab Hussain, was previously caught by locals and handed over to the police, subsequently receiving hospital treatment due to injuries. Additionally, two other accused, Chotu and Raju, have been arrested. The hunt for two remaining culprits involved in the Deepak Gupta murder case has been intensified.

Moreover, Gorakhpur’s SSP Raj Karan Nayar detailed the encounter between cattle smugglers and villagers. He revealed on Tuesday morning at 3 AM, they received information about villagers pursuing cattle smugglers in two pickup vans. One van got stuck in the village while smugglers from the second van attempted to escape.

Meanwhile, 20-year-old Deepak Gupta chased the fleeing vehicle. Smugglers forcibly pulled him into their car and then threw him out of the moving vehicle, causing critical head injuries from which Deepak succumbed. SSP clarified that rumors of him being shot were unfounded as the postmortem indicated the absence of bullet wounds.

After this occurrence, the captured smuggler was beaten by the villagers and is undergoing hospital treatment. As authorities attempted to control the crowd, a police officer was injured by a thrown stone. Based on family complaints, a case has been lodged. Five teams have been created to capture the accused swiftly, with authorities promising stern action upon their arrest.
