DUSU Election Tomorrow: Discover the Contenders

The noise of campaigning in Delhi University's student union election has ceased one day before the voting. Thursday, September 18, will see the votes cast. The winner will be announced on September 19. Preparations are complete.

The Delhi University Student Union elections are abuzz as nine fierce candidates vie for the presidency. This year, two major groups are backing female candidates, with three women in the presidential race. Speculations are rife that the 17-year record might break, with hopes pinned on a female president since Nupur Sharma's historic win in 2008. Voting commences Thursday morning, with meticulous preparations complete. Election results are anticipated by September 19.

Nine Candidates Compete for Presidency

This election season introduces nine candidates for the presidency at Delhi University Student Union. Among them are Anjali, Anuj Kumar, Aryan Mann, Divyanshu Singh Yadav, Joslin Nandita Chaudhary, Rahul Kumar, Umanshi, Yogesh Meena, and Abhishek Kumar.

Voting Opens at 8:30 AM

On September 18, casting votes begins at 8:30 AM until 1 PM, and resumes from 3 PM to 7:30 PM. All arrangements are set. Students must carry their University-issued ID card to vote.

ID Cards Required for Voting

First-year students eligible to vote but without an ID card can present their verified fee receipt along with a Voter ID, Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, or Driving License to vote.

On September 18, Delhi University authorized its faculties, staff, and students to enter via Gate Number 1 with an official sticker due to DUSU elections. On September 18 and 19, 2025, vehicular movements along Student Marg, Probin Road, and University Road will be restricted.

Gate Number 4 remains closed both days. GC Narang Marg and Cavalry Lane are completely off-limits on September 19, 2025, the day of vote counting. Strict security measures ensure no disturbances occur.

Police Vigilance Across the Campus

For DUSU elections, Delhi Police is on high alert. North District DCP Raja Banthia confirmed comprehensive police presence, with over 600 personnel deployed. CCTV and body-worn cameras ensure security, monitored by drone cameras. Some routes will be diverted or closed as per the situation, especially Student Marg may be shut for vehicles tomorrow. Voting aligns with morning and evening college schedules.
