The Cunning Thief: 'Bunty' Wanted in 21 Cases and a Landlord Through Crime

A man known for targeting sealed homes of the wealthy has been arrested in Bhubaneswar. Wanted in 21 cases, the thief invested in several flats, which he would then rent out. Before his arrest, he lived lavishly in a five-star hotel, having evaded capture for years. According to a news agency, Police Officer Parshuram Giri was a prime suspect in at least 21 robberies over the past year.

The officer stated that Giri was apprehended at a checkpoint set up in the city for election monitoring. Commissioner Sanjeeb Panda mentioned that he primarily targeted unoccupied residential buildings, entering through broken windows and stealing cash and jewelry. He worked alone to execute these thefts.

Recovered: 2.1 Million Cash, Gold and Silver Ornaments Worth 5 Million

The items seized from Parshuram Giri included 2.1 million in cash, approximately 5 million worth of gold and silver ornaments, two high-end motorcycles, and documents of five flats in the state's capital, some of which were rented out. Besides apartments, he built a palatial house at his ancestral place in Soro, Balasore district. Giri lived a sumptuous lifestyle, often staying in five-star hotels across metros and spending heavily in bars and pubs.
