The fourth match between India and South Africa takes place today in Lucknow. However, there is troubling news for Team India. Vice-captain Shubman Gill is out of the game—not due to form issues, but due to injury. Reports suggest Gill has sustained a leg injury. This is worrisome for the team as there are only six matches left for India before the T20 World Cup.

Gill had just returned to this series after an injury. Previously, during the first Test against Africa in Kolkata, he was injured in the neck, which led to his exclusion from the Test and ODI series. Considering the T20 World Cup, he was included in this series, yet he faces injury again in just a month.

Only 6 Matches Before the World Cup

With less than two months to go for the T20 World Cup, defending champion India does not want Gill's injury to be serious. After this match, India has only six T20 matches left. Gill’s current form raises concern as he hasn’t scored a fifty in T20s this year.

Given his continuous poor performances, discussions about dropping him from the playing eleven to bring in Sanju Samson have started. Notably, Axar Patel is already out of the series due to illness.
