Celebrating Holi Bhai Dooj? (Holi Bhai Pujan Vidhi)

According to Hindu beliefs, there is a tradition for sisters to fast on this day, wishing for their brothers' prosperity and longevity. These rituals are performed during the daytime, involving a ceremonial setup and aarti before the brothers and concludes with a shared meal signifying family bonds.

Method for Applying Tilak on Holi Bhai Dooj (Holi Bhai Dooj Tilak Vidhi)

Prepare a sacred puja plate with at least 27 leaves of pure saffron, red sandalwood, and Ganges water. Before applying the tilak, keep the mixture in Lord Vishnu's feet and chant 'Om Namo Narayanaya' mantra 27 times. After worshipping Lord Ganpati and Vishnu, the sisters apply it to their brothers facing the northeast, sweeten each other's mouths, and reinforce their sibling love forever.

Why Bhai Dooj is Celebrated After Holi?

According to myth, Yama, the god of death, visited his sister, the Yamuna, and enjoyed a meal at her home. It is from this day the tradition began, believing that brothers who visit their married sisters on this day, sharing a meal, will be blessed with longevity and protection against untimely demise.
