This time, Joshimath has experienced tremendous snowfall. Homes, buildings, trees, roads, alleys... everything is covered with a thick layer of snow. This pristine white view is extremely captivating and beautiful. As sunlight beams onto the snow-covered mountains, they glisten like silver.
However, the continual snowfall has accumulated on the roads, stranding vehicles. The icy conditions have slowed down vehicle speeds on the mountains. While travel faces minor difficulties, the natural beauty eclipses these small inconveniences.
The faces of tourism operators light up with joy due to the snow. Meanwhile, tourists are thrilled by the spectacle of the snowfall. This period of rain and snow in the mountains has been a big relief after a prolonged drought. Joshimath is now enveloped in snow's embrace. While snowfall brings numerous challenges, it also showcases nature's invaluable beauty at its best. The globally renowned ski resort Auli has also experienced substantial snowfall.
Tourists Enjoying Snowfall in Chakrata
A crowd of tourists gathered to enjoy the season's first snowfall in Chakrata. Roads were jam-packed, causing vehicles to be stuck, yet the fun and enjoyment of tourists continued amidst the traffic.
Moreover, areas including Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham are wholly engulfed in snow. Due to the heavy snowfall in Uttarkashi district, the entire region is gripped by cold waves. This year, unprecedented snowfall is witnessed even in lower areas along with higher regions, severely impacting daily life.
Owing to heavy snowfall, the Gangotri National Highway is completely blocked at Gangnani. Similarly, the Yamunotri National Highway is obstructed beyond Hanuman Chatti. Besides, the Phulchatti–Dharasu route is entirely closed near Roditop. With roads obstructed, vehicles are trapped at various points, and the administration and relief teams are constantly working to address this.
