The Indigo crisis has disrupted hundreds of flights, prompting significant fare hikes by airlines. In response, the Civil Aviation Ministry has introduced a fare cap on all affected routes to prevent any arbitrary or opportunistic fare increases by the airlines.

Moreover, the ministry has directed Indigo to process all pending passenger refunds without delay.

Operational disturbances have led to the cancellation or delays of several Indigo flights, increasing traveler demand. Consequently, certain airlines have excessively priced fares on numerous routes. Recognizing this, the Aviation Ministry promptly intervened.

The ministry has clearly stated that under no circumstances will arbitrary or opportunistic fare charges from passengers be tolerated. Leveraging its regulatory powers, the ministry has implemented a fare cap across all impacted routes, prohibiting airlines from charging above a set maximum.

Official directives have been issued to all airlines, mandating strict adherence to the imposed fare cap without exceptions. The ministry affirmed that this fare limit would remain in place until complete stabilization of the situation.

According to the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA), this move aims to maintain price discipline in the market, prevent the exploitation of distressed travelers, and provide relief to those needing urgent travel, such as senior citizens, students, and patients.

The ministry emphasized that these groups must not be burdened by exorbitant fares.

The Aviation Ministry is actively monitoring fare levels in real-time and is coordinating with airlines and online travel platforms to promptly address any irregularities.

The ministry warned that any deviation from established standards would result in immediate corrective action.
