Pranav Adani on Dharavi: Keys First, Then Redevelopment

Pranav Adani, Managing Director of Adani Group's Agro and Oil & Gas segments, spoke candidly at Agenda AajTak about the Dharavi redevelopment project. He emphasized that it is the largest redevelopment project globally and that efforts to transform it have been ongoing for 40 years. Now, it's set for a significant transformation.

Providing an overview of the Dharavi project, Pranav Adani stated that 200,000 homes are slated for construction. According to Adani, those residents living there before the year 2000 will be allocated homes in the same locality, while those who moved after will be offered homes elsewhere in Mumbai.

Keys First, Then Development

Adani addressed a common concern about vacating homes and assured that homes will be constructed first, keys handed over to residents, followed by continued redevelopment in those areas.

Located at the heart of the city, Dharavi will undergo redevelopment to include metro and other infrastructure projects, aiming for a multi-modal development approach. A comprehensive plan is in place and progress is underway.

What Did Pranav Adani Say About Mumbai Airports?

Discussing Mumbai's airports, Pranav Adani pointed out that cities like London have four to five airports, suggesting Mumbai should ideally have two to three. The new airport in Navi Mumbai is expected to bring notable changes, reducing travel time by approximately 30 minutes.

He also highlighted ongoing infrastructure development efforts across various states. Expansion plans are underway for Airports in Assam, a strategic location where increased investment was long overdue.

Speaking of Bihar, Adani shared his experience of attending two summits there and noted the state's significant business opportunities. He praised the ambitions of Bihar's youth and emphasized that with appropriate opportunities, development is unstoppable. This is why Adani Group has initiated projects like smart meters and cement plants in Bihar, marking a gradual transition.

Reflecting on AI, he posited that it will become an integral part of life, not eliminating jobs but transforming job categories. He remarked that nation-building is integral to Adani Group's identity, and the group is keen to see rapid growth in tier 2 and 3 cities.

Significant changes have enhanced the ease of doing business in India. Compared to 10-12 years ago, starting a business is considerably simplified. The digital age eliminates traditional barriers, allowing entrepreneurs to efficiently operate online from any city or state. He advised young entrepreneurs to maintain an entrepreneurial mindset as they embark on startups.
