Renowned playback singer Anuradha Paudwal has officially become a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). She joined the party fold on Saturday afternoon at BJP headquarters. Her induction into the party comes at a pivotal moment with the country on the brink of national parliamentary elections. The Election Commission is poised to announce the dates today.

Upon joining BJP, Paudwal expressed joy in aligning with those deeply connected with the nation’s ancient heritage. Known for her devotional singing in the film industry, she considers her opportunity to perform during the foundation laying of Ram Lalla a true fortune.

Who is Anuradha Paudwal?

A household name in Indian music, Anuradha Paudwal was born on October 27, 1952, in Karnataka to a Konkani family as 'Alka Nadkarni.' She made her debut in the industry in 1973 with a verse in the film 'Abhimaan.' The following year marked her entry into Marathi cinema and her eventual release of a non-film Marathi album 'Bhav Geeten' soon became a sensation.

Her illustrious career saw her nominated for a Filmfare award for the 1984 film 'Hero.' A year later, Paudwal won her first Filmfare award for playback singing with the song 'Mera Man Baja Mridang' from 'Utsav' in 1985.
