Current BJP MP from Badaun, Sanghmitra Maurya, and her father Swami Prasad Maurya are facing relentless legal challenges. The Lucknow MP-MLA court has issued non-bailable warrants against them. The ACJM III MP-MLA Ambreesh Kumar Srivastava's court had already served three summons and two bailable warrants in a controversial case involving the two and journalist Deepak Kumar Swarnkar from Lucknow.
Despite all this, when they failed to show up in court, non-bailable warrants were released on Thursday, April 4th. The next hearing is scheduled for April 16th. Deepak Swarnkar claimed that he had been in a living relationship with Sanghmitra since 2016 in his complaint.
Sanghmitra Maurya and Swami Prasad had led him to believe that Sanghmitra was divorced from her former husband. Swarnkar says he married Sanghmitra in her home on January 3rd, 2019. According to the complainant, Sanghmitra submitted a false affidavit during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, claiming she was unmarried while her divorce was finalized in May 2021. According to Swarnkar, 'In 2021, when I requested an official marriage, Swami Prasad Maurya had me attacked several times in different places by the accused.'
Viral video of crying on stage
It is noteworthy that the BJP has cut the ticket of current MP Sanghmitra Maurya from the Badaun Lok Sabha constituency this time. Durvijay Shakya has been named as her replacement. On April 2nd, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath arrived to address a 'Prabuddha Sammelan.' However, a video featuring Sanghmitra Maurya becoming the topic of heated discussions circulated before CM Yogi's arrival on stage. In it, Sanghmitra Maurya is seen crying while seated on the stage.
When questioned, Sanghmitra Maurya explained that Minister Gulabo Devi was telling her the story of King Dasharath, which was quite moving, leading her, as a woman, to tears. She categorically denied any displeasure over the loss of her ticket and stated she is campaigning vigorously for Durvijay Shakya. She made clear there is no misunderstanding.
Left BJP and SP to form own party
After leaving the BJP, Swami Prasad Maurya has been very critical of the party. He has made several remarks on Hinduism and Brahmins, leading to considerable controversy. Speculation had been rife that Sanghmitra Maurya might lose her Badaun ticket this time, which ultimately happened.
The outspoken Swami Prasad Maurya joined the Samajwadi Party after leaving the BJP and recently resigned from the primary membership of the SP as well. Subsequently, on February 22nd, he announced his new party, the National Exploited Society Party.
After failing to reconcile with the India block, the party's national president and former cabinet minister Swami Prasad Maurya has decided to go solo in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He has already declared his party's candidates for two Lok Sabha seats and has announced that he will soon declare candidates for other Lok Sabha seats as well.
