The loss against India in the Asia Cup 2025 has thrown Pakistan cricket into turmoil. Following this defeat, former captain and 1992 World Cup victor, Imran Khan, launched a scathing attack on the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and its head, Mohsin Naqvi. From prison, Imran sarcastically remarked that Pakistan can only beat India if PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi and Army Chief Asim Munir open the batting lineup.

In the Super-4 match played at the Dubai International Stadium, the Indian team, led by Surya Kumar Yadav, defeated Pakistan by six wickets. For India, Abhishek Sharma played an explosive innings, scoring 74 runs off just 39 balls and achieving the target of 172 runs with seven balls to spare. Pakistani pacers Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf tried to unsettle Abhishek and Shubman Gill, but their efforts bore no fruit as India moved comfortably towards victory.

'Naqvi has Destroyed Pakistan Cricket'

According to PTI, Imran's sister Aleema Khan shared his statement with reporters. Imran further suggested that Pakistan could only win if former Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Esa and Election Commission head Sikandar Sultan Raja were on-field umpires, with the third umpire being Islamabad High Court's Chief Justice Sarfaraz Dogar.

Imran Khan has consistently targeted Mohsin Naqvi, accusing him of incompetence and nepotism, which, according to Khan, have led to the ruin of Pakistan cricket. The 72-year-old also accused Asim Munir of stealing his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party's mandate in the 2024 general elections. Imran has been incarcerated in various cases since August 2023.

Questioning Mohsin Naqvi

Since the start of the Asia Cup 2025, PCB and ACC chief Mohsin Naqvi has been embroiled in controversies. PCB lodged a complaint with the ICC when India refused to shake hands with Pakistan after their group match and accused umpire Andy Pycroft of bias.

PCB even threatened to pull out of the Asia Cup if Pycroft were not removed, but ICC ignored this and Pakistan decided against a boycott.

It is noteworthy that Naqvi also serves as the Interior Minister in the current Pakistan government. Meanwhile, Pakistan's team repeatedly flouted rules in this Asia Cup, such as skipping pre-match press conferences twice.

Pakistan's next clash is against Sri Lanka on Tuesday, September 23, at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. This match could be a do-or-die situation for Pakistan.
