Fearless and unsparing with answers, this young man could pass for a school student, yet beneath that guise lies a shocking narrative. Accused of the sensational murder of NCP leader Baba Siddiqui, 20-year-old Shivkumar was apprehended on Sunday by a task force of UP STF and Mumbai Crime Branch from Nanpara, Bahraich district.
Shivkumar allegedly played a decisive role in both orchestrating and executing Baba Siddiqui's murder. With a penchant for Instagram reels, he tried escaping to Nepal after the crime. Before he could succeed, police captured him. Four individuals from UP, accused of aiding him, are also in custody.
Among these alleged helpers are Anurag Kashyap, Gyan Prakash Tripathi, Aakash Srivastava, and Akhileshendra Pratap Singh, accused of sheltering Shivkumar. Following the gruesome event, two shooters, Dharamraj Kashyap and Gurmansingh, were arrested on the spot, while Shivkumar initially fled. He fired two shots at Baba and later flaunted his audacity in a mafia-style Instagram reel.
During interrogation, Shivkumar made significant revelations. He mentioned being from the same village as Dharamraj Kashyap, and having previously worked with scrap in Pune. Anmol Bishnoi, brother of notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, was financially involved, promising substantial payments, including a hefty sum for the assassination of Baba Siddiqui, facilitated through Snapchat by Shubham Lonkar.
Shivkumar disclosed receiving weapons, phone, and SIM cards from Shubham Lonkar and Yaseen Akhtar to carry out the plan. Post-assassination, the shooters were provided new phones and SIMs for communication. The three spent days surveilling Baba before executing the murder on October 12th, amidst festival chaos that led to the arrest of two while Shivkumar escaped.
Fleeing, Shivkumar discarded his phone and traversed from Pune to Bahraich via Jhansi and Lucknow, staying in touch with aides and handlers. While arranging his escape to Nepal, all were eventually captured. Mumbai Police are prepared to take them on transit remand.
The infamous post-murder Instagram reel cemented Shivkumar's notoriety, showcasing him in mafia style with a 'Powerful People Make Places Powerful' dialogue from KGF. Another reel followed, featuring a Bhojpuri song, boasting his location as Mumbai.
Current investigations, combined with Shivkumar's confessions, indicate Anmol Bishnoi as the true mastermind. From Pune, Parveen Lonkar also maintained direct contact with Anmol. He is already sought by NIA, with a bounty of 10 lakhs announced for this elusive figure involved in serious charges, including murder and extortion.
Anmol's evasion persists since the Sidhu Moosewala murder case, initially reported in Kenya but later sighted at an April 2023 Bakersfield event in California, showing photos with Punjabi singers Aujla and Sheरीmann. With 11 grave charges against him, authorities are intensifying efforts to bring him to justice.
Baba Siddiqui's murder has sent shockwaves through both cinematic and political circles due to his notable influence in both domains. His Iftar parties famously attracted stars, including Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, rendering him a crucial figure in Bollywood social circuits. Beyond cinema, he served as a cabinet minister in Maharashtra, recognized for his social service contributions.
