The Indian Air Force's most trusted aircraft, the C-130J Super Hercules, will now undergo major repairs, maintenance, and overhauls within India. Tata Advanced Systems (TASL) and the American company Lockheed Martin have laid the foundation for a new defense MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) center. This will be India's most advanced MRO facility, catering not only to the Indian Air Force but also other Asia-Pacific countries operating C-130J aircraft.

Comprehensive body repairs, engine overhauls, avionics updates, and weapon system upgrades, along with training Indian engineers and technicians, will all take place here. It will also open opportunities for smaller Indian suppliers. Expected to be operational by late 2026, the center will welcome its first C-130J for servicing at the beginning of 2027.
