IndiGo's operations remain unstable at multiple airports across the country, leading to ongoing delays and a wave of cancellations. On the seventh consecutive day of this massive disruption, passengers at major airports were visibly frustrated. Such a large-scale crisis in India's air travel history is unprecedented.

On Monday, approximately 450 flights were grounded across various airports. In Delhi alone, 134 flights were canceled (75 departures and 59 arrivals). Meanwhile, 127 flights were canceled in Bengaluru, 20 in Ahmedabad, and seven in Visakhapatnam. Airports in Mumbai and Kolkata also faced significant chaos. By 9:30 AM, confirmations of 289 cancellations had already been received.

On Sunday, the nation's largest airline was compelled to cancel over 650 flights, a notable decrease from more than 1000 cancellations two days prior.

According to officials, more than 6.1 billion INR in ticket refunds have been issued to affected passengers. The crisis primarily stems from rigorous enforcement of Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL), resulting in a shortage of cockpit crew. This led to widespread cancellations and chaos at key airports.

In response, the government has intervened, introducing measures like air fare caps and expediting refund processes. An ultimatum was issued to IndiGo, resulting in the processing of 610 crore INR in refunds to over 3,000 passengers by Saturday. A high-level investigation into the crisis has also commenced.

Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu clarified the airline's accountability, noting the pilot duty directives were issued a year prior. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) extended a 24-hour period for IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers and accountable manager Isidro Porqueras to respond to its show-cause notice.
