The suspect accused of raping and murdering a female trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata was addicted to alcohol and porn. Due to his filthy behavior, three of his wives had left him, while his fourth wife died of cancer last year.
On the morning of August 9th, the trainee doctor's body was found in the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. Police arrested Sanjay Roy, who confessed to the rape and murder. Charges were filed under sections 64 (rape) and 103 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code. Sanjay Roy is currently in police custody for 14 days.

Nationwide Strike by Resident Doctors Starting Today
In protest of this incident, the Federation of All India Resident Doctors Association (FRODA) is on a nationwide strike starting today. During this period, OPD, elective surgeries, and laboratory work will be halted. RG Kar Medical College's operations are also suspended. Doctors claim that while only one suspect has been arrested, others may be involved in this horrific crime. They allege that the arrest of Sanjay Roy is an attempt to cover up a bigger issue. The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has given a 48-hour ultimatum to complete the investigation and take action; otherwise, they have threatened a nationwide strike.
Consumed Alcohol and Watched Porn, Then Committed the Crime
Police sources say that suspect Sanjay Roy was addicted to consuming alcohol while watching porn films. He also had unrestricted access to the hospital, which meant no one suspected him. On the night of the crime, he entered and exited the hospital multiple times. He was seen drinking alcohol behind the hospital at 11 PM on Friday. After watching a porn film and at about 4 AM, he was seen entering the Chest Medicine Department through the back door. He exited the seminar hall around 4:45 AM.

Police also found evidence that he attempted to clean bloodstains at the crime scene. After returning home, he washed the clothes he wore during the crime. However, police seized his shoes, which had visible bloodstains. When police arrested him, he was heavily intoxicated. The suspect has a perverted mindset, with his mobile filled with porn videos.
Blood Streaming from Victim’s Eyes and Mouth
A police officer mentioned that it was likely the suspect killed the female doctor before raping her. She was sleeping alone in the seminar hall of the hospital, resisted, but was strangled to death. The post-mortem report indicated, "Blood was flowing from the victim's eyes and mouth. Her face had injuries. There was bleeding from her private parts. She had injuries on her stomach, left leg, neck, right hand, fingers, and lips."
How Was the Suspect Caught?
Police arrived at the scene immediately after getting the information on Saturday morning. During the initial investigation, they found a Bluetooth earbud at the crime scene, which helped them track down the suspect. They connected the Bluetooth to various phones, but it only connected to the suspect's phone. Subsequently, Sanjay Roy was arrested. The suspect was a civic volunteer, a contractual worker assisting police officers in traffic and unauthorized parking management. Their job is temporary.
