Stunning revelations have emerged about the chief accused, Sanjay Roy, in the rape and murder case of a female doctor in Kolkata. The accused was married four times, but his previous three wives left him due to his bad behavior. These claims were made by his neighbors in a conversation with Aaj Tak.
According to the neighbors, Sanjay Roy was married four times. Three of his wives left him because of his abusive behavior, while the fourth wife died from cancer last year. Neighbors noted that the accused often returned home late at night in an inebriated state.
However, Sanjay Roy's mother, Malti Roy, refuted the allegations against her son, claiming that he confessed to the crime under police pressure. She said, "My son is innocent. He confessed to the crime under police pressure."
Sanjay Roy was arrested in connection with the rape and murder of a female doctor at RG Kar Medical College in North Kolkata. The body of the 31-year-old victim was found in the hospital's seminar hall.
The four-page post-mortem report revealed that the female doctor's body had multiple injury marks. The report mentioned that blood was oozing from the victim's eyes and mouth, her face bore injury marks, and one of her nails was broken. Blood was also found in her private parts. There were injury marks on her stomach, left leg, neck, right hand, ring finger, and lips.
Police have charged Sanjay Roy under sections 64 (rape) and 103 (murder) of the BNS. He was presented at the Sealdah court, which sent him to police custody until August 23.
This incident has sparked outrage among doctors, nursing staff, and medical students in the city. Junior doctors and students from various government hospitals, including RG Kar Medical College, National Medical College, and Medical College, Kolkata, held protests and marches. Similar demonstrations took place at district hospitals like Burdwan Medical College and Bankura Sammilani Medical College, demanding stringent punishment for the accused and calling for increased security for women in hospitals.
