The 'Federation of All India Resident Doctors Association' has announced a nationwide strike. Resident doctors from all government hospitals are joining this strike. Meanwhile, police interrogations have unearthed several shocking revelations about the criminal, Sanjay Roy. 1. Nationwide Strike by Resident Doctors, IMA Issues Ultimatum

The case continues to escalate with resident doctors initiating a nationwide strike in protest. During this period, OPD services, elective surgeries, and lab work will remain shut. Operations at RG Kar Medical College are also halted as doctors demand a thorough investigation, claiming more perpetrators could be involved beyond the arrested Sanjay Roy. The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has given a 48-hour ultimatum for a complete and precise investigation.

There’s a nationwide protest warning as well. The IMA stated, "We demand the authorities act within 48 hours, or we will initiate nationwide actions. A fair, transparent, and sensitive investigation is crucial. Two days are given for the arrest of culprits. Following this, the Indian Medical Association will conduct nationwide protests. The entire medical community in India is shocked by this brutal murder." Thus, doctors across the country are demanding justice for the deceased lady doctor.

2. Medical Superintendent and ACP Removed

Post this dreadful incident, RG Kar Medical College’s superintendent, Dr. Sanjay Vashisth, was removed by the health department. He had been in charge for a long time. The hospital dean, Bulbul Mukhopadhyay, has taken over. A demand for his removal began right after the lady doctor’s body was discovered on Friday. However, the health department issued his removal order 48 hours later. Additionally, Kolkata police also removed SP Chandan Guha, the police in-charge of the hospital, for negligence in the matter.

3. Accused Watched Porn and Drank Alcohol Before Committing Crime

During the investigation, multiple revelations have emerged. Police sources indicate that the accused, Sanjay Roy, had a habit of watching porn films while drinking alcohol. On the night of the incident, he was seen entering and exiting the hospital multiple times. Based on interrogations, circumstantial evidence, and CCTV footage, the crime was confirmed. He was spotted drinking alcohol behind the hospital around 11 PM on Friday, where he watched an obscene movie before entering the hospital through the back door at 4 AM. He was seen exiting the seminar hall around 4:45 AM.

4. Accused Tampered with Evidence Post Crime

Following the crime, the accused attempted to tamper with evidence. Police found indications that he tried to wash away blood stains at the crime scene. After returning home, he washed the clothes he wore during the crime, but police have recovered his shoes, which have visible blood stains. When the police went to arrest him, he was completely intoxicated. The accused has a perverted mindset, as evident from the kind of porn he watched on his mobile.

5. Preliminary Investigation Indicates Murder Before Rape

Kolkata police await the final postmortem report of the lady doctor. According to another officer, circumstantial evidence suggests that the accused first murdered the doctor and then raped her. She was alone and sleeping in the hospital’s seminar hall. She resisted but was strangled to death. The postmortem report mentioned, "Blood was oozing from the victim’s eyes and mouth. Her face had injuries. There was bleeding from her private parts too. Bruises were found on her stomach, left leg, neck, right hand, fingers, and lips."

Clue from Bluetooth Earbud Led to the Arrest

On Friday early morning, the lady doctor was brutally murdered. The police arrived at the scene on Saturday morning upon notification. During initial investigations, police found a Bluetooth earbud at the scene which led them to the accused. PGT and other doctors identified the criminal from the CCTV footage. Subsequently, Sanjay Roy, a civic volunteer, was arrested. Civic volunteers are temporary employees who assist the police in managing traffic and unauthorized parking.

Mamata Banerjee Demands Death Penalty for the Criminal

The police have filed a case under Sections 64 (rape) and 103 (murder) of the BNS against the accused. After his arrest, he was presented in the local court, which sent him to 14-day police custody until August 23 for interrogation about the case. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has demanded the death penalty for the criminal. She mentioned that if the victim’s family demands a CBI investigation, she will support it without objection. Instructions to take the case to a fast-track court have been given.
