Apple has achieved a major milestone in India. Reports indicate that the company has become one of the top 5 smartphone brands in the Indian market. This marks the first time Apple has been included in this prestigious list. The iPhone is swiftly becoming a favorite among Indian consumers.
According to primary data from IDC and Counterpoint Research, Apple excelled during the festive season, securing a market share of 9 to 10 percent in the fourth quarter of 2024. The company launched its iPhone 16 series just last September.
Along with this series, Apple introduced artificial intelligence features, exclusive to the
iPhone 15 Pro
and iPhone 15 Pro Max, unavailable in any other iPhones. The festive discounts drove a large number of customers to purchase these devices.
The 24-month no-cost EMI and special discount offers during the festive season benefited many consumers. E-commerce platforms provided enticing offers on the launch of the iPhone 16, alongside the iPhone 15 and others, boosting sales significantly across the country.

Reports highlight that Counterpoint's Research Director, Tarun Pathak, mentioned Apple's sales have grown consistently over the past 5 years. It's projected that by 2026, Apple's sales in India could reach 15 million units, making India the third-largest market for the company globally.
Currently, India is the fifth-largest market for Apple. According to reports, Apple shipped 12 million iPhones in 2024, compared to 9 million in 2023, achieving a year-on-year growth of 34 to 35 percent. The company is continuously enhancing its manufacturing capabilities in India.
It's noteworthy that Apple has started manufacturing the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max in India. Collaborating with Foxconn and Pegatron, the company has been producing Pro models locally since 2024. Additionally, production of AirPods, MacBooks, and iPads is also being scaled up in the country.
