Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma:

There is significant news regarding the impending divorce of Indian cricket star Yuzvendra Chahal and his wife Dhanashree Verma. A decision is expected on this matter tomorrow (March 20).

The Bombay High Court has instructed the Bandra Magistrate Court to decide on the mutually initiated divorce proceedings by Chahal and his estranged wife Dhanashree by Thursday.

Chahal to Play for Punjab Team in IPL 2025

At 34, Yuzvendra Chahal is gearing up for the IPL 2025 season. This time, he will play for Punjab Kings (PBKS). The tournament is set to begin on March 22, with Punjab's first match scheduled against Gujarat Titans on March 25.

Bollywood actress Preity Zinta's Punjab team acquired Chahal during the IPL 2025 mega auction, placing a substantial bid of 180 million INR. Chahal has previously played in the IPL for Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians, and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Justice Madhav Jamdar's bench communicated with Chahal's lawyer, who informed that Chahal won't be available post-March 21 due to IPL commitments. Thus, the family court has been directed to announce a decision on the divorce by March 20.

Petition Filed Last Month

Both Chahal and Dhanashree filed for mutual divorce on February 5. However, the family court initially denied waiving the six-month cooling-off period.

Subsequently, both contested this decision in the High Court. Under the Hindu Marriage Act, section 13B often requires a six-month cooling period to allow the couple to reconcile and decide against divorce, providing a chance for resolution.

Agreement on 47.5 Million Settlement

Justice Jamdar considered that Chahal and Verma have been separated for two and a half years, and adherence to alimony terms was agreed upon during mediation. Given this, the bench waived the cooling period. According to the family court, Chahal had agreed to give Dhanashree 47.5 million INR, of which he has already paid 23.7 million INR.
