In a case of alleged snake venom trafficking, the famed YouTuber Elvish Yadav was arrested on Sunday. After sufficient evidence was found against him, the Noida police took him into custody following an interrogation and presented him before the Surajpur court. Earlier, a medical examination was also conducted at the district hospital. Following his arrest, a video surfaced on social media showing Yadav smiling in the company of police officers.

After the case came to light last year, Noida police registered a case against seven individuals, including YouTuber Elvish Yadav. Subsequently, five were arrested. Their names are Rahul, Titunath, Jay Karan, Narayan, and Ravinath. The arrests were initiated by animal welfare organization PF, led by BJP leader Maneka Gandhi. Thereafter, Rahul exposed Elvish Yadav's wrongdoings. The police had summoned the YouTuber for interrogation several times, but he had not been arrested until now.

The police have registered a case against Elvish Yadav in Noida Sector 49. The investigation is being carried out by the police in Noida Sector 20. Sections from IPC, Wildlife Protection Act-1972, and subsequently NDPS Act were added following the retrieval and testing of the seized snake venom. After a five-month investigation, the police have strengthened the case against the accused.

Despite his apparent ease during police custody, Elvish Yadav's troubles are set to escalate. The charges against him carry the weight of long-term imprisonment, which is bound to have a substantial effect on his career. NDPS Act:

Officially titled the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act-1985, has undergone amendments in 1988, 2001, 2014, and 2021. It regulates the production, sale, and consumption of narcotic substances. It covers substances such as hashish, marijuana, opium, heroin, cocaine, morphine, LSD, MDMA, and Alprazolam. While many drugs have medical uses, their overuse is prohibited.

Sentence:

10 to 20 years imprisonment and a fine between 1 to 2 lakh rupees.

Wildlife Protection Act:

The Wildlife Protection Act-1972 has 66 sections and 6 schedules for wildlife conservation. The first schedule protects wild animals and birds; it includes 43 species including tigers, leopards, bears, parrots, peacocks, certain ducks, pheasants, owls, eagles, camels, monkeys, elephants, deer, albino rats, snakes, crocodiles, alligators, and turtles. Schedule 6 forbids the cultivation of rare plants.

Sentence:

3 to 7 years imprisonment.

IPC Section 284:

Applied to individuals dealing carelessly with poisonous substances, posing a risk to others.

Sentence:

Up to six months imprisonment and/or a fine of one thousand rupees.

IPC Section 289:

Relates to pet animals causing harm; the owner is held responsible for any dangers or physical damage caused.

Sentence:

Up to six months imprisonment and/or a fine of one thousand rupees.

IPC Section 120B:

Involves conspiracy to commit any offense; not necessary for the conspirator to execute the crime personally.

Sentence:

Life imprisonment or a rigorous imprisonment of two years or more.
