This match marked only Yashasvi Jaiswal's fourth ODI encounter for India. Yashasvi was given a chance in all three matches of the series against South Africa due to Shubman Gill’s injury. He scored 18 runs in the Ranchi ODI and 22 runs in the Raipur ODI but silenced his critics with a stellar performance in Visakhapatnam.

During this innings, Yashasvi Jaiswal partnered with Rohit Sharma to set up a massive 155-run opening stand. This was India’s second-highest opening partnership against South Africa in ODIs. The record is held by Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly, who scored 193 runs against South Africa in Johannesburg in 2001.

Yashasvi Jaiswal has had an impressive Test career, scoring 2511 runs in 28 matches at an average of 49.23. In Test matches, he has hit 7 centuries and 13 half-centuries. Yashasvi has also played 23 T20 international matches for India, scoring 723 runs with an average of 36.15, which includes one century and one half-century.
