Shocking news emerged from Patan, Gujarat, where a family accused their daughter-in-law of poisoning their food, resulting in the death of her brother-in-law while her father-in-law was hospitalized in critical condition. Police took the accused into custody for interrogation following a complaint.
It happened in Dhanora village, where Jaya Goswami, estranged from her husband and in-laws for 12 years, was recently persuaded to return home. Unable to reconcile with her husband, she allegedly hatched a plan to eliminate the entire family.
Concerning the incident, Bhavesh Giri filed a case against his sister-in-law, Jaya Goswami, for murder and attempt to murder. He explained, "After marrying my brother Ashokgiri Goswami from Gotarka village in Santalpur tehsil, they had a child. However, frequent disputes led Jaya to stay with her parents for the past 12 years."
Why did Jaya make lentils in two separate pots that day?
Bhavesh Giri disclosed that Jaya was preparing two types of lentils in different pots before serving food. When asked why, she replied, "My son does not eat spicy food, so I am making him radish lentils." However, unbeknownst to the family, Jaya had procured Datura seeds from near Shankar Bhagwan temple and crushed them into the boiling lentils.
Soon after the meal was ready, Jaya's brother-in-law, Mahadevgiri, collapsed and died shortly after eating. Simultaneously, Jaya's father-in-law, Ishwargiri, became seriously ill and was rushed to a private hospital in Patan.
