To gauge the nation's mood, India Today collaborated with C-Voter to conduct the 'Mood of the Nation' survey. The survey had a sample size of 206,826 and took place between July 1, 2025, and August 14, 2025. During the survey, people were asked who would be the prime candidate for the PM position after Narendra Modi. Here's how people responded.

Who is the Prime Candidate in BJP?

Three potential candidates were presented within the BJP after PM Modi. The survey reveals that 28% of the people favored Amit Shah, making him a leading figure in this race according to the public. Yogi Adityanath, the current Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, was seen as the next option. He was chosen by 26% as a potential PM contender. Meanwhile, Nitin Gadkari received the least interest from the people, garnering only seven percent of the vote.

In the MOTN survey, when asked who is the best face for the next PM role, 52% still favored PM Modi. Rahul Gandhi, on the other hand, secured only a nominal percentage of the votes.

Regarding Rahul Gandhi's performance as an opposition leader, 28% rated him as very good, 22% stated he was good, and 16% considered his performance average. Conversely, 15% thought his performance was poor, and 12% believed he performed very poorly in his opposition role.

Survey Sample Size

The India Today C-Voter Mood of the Nation survey collected opinions from 54,788 adults across all states and Lok Sabha constituencies between July 1 and August 14, 2025. Additionally, feedback from 152,038 individuals was gathered over the past 24 weeks. The analysis of feedback was included, culminating in the impressions of 206,826 people. Overall, there might be a broad margin of error of 3% and a precise level margin of 5%.
