Following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, on April 22, the Ministry of Home Affairs has made a significant decision. It has ordered the cancellation of all visas linked to Pakistan.

In light of these developments, Home Minister Amit Shah engaged in discussions with the chief ministers of various states, emphasizing the urgent need to remove Pakistani nationals from their territories. This directive came after a detailed meeting with top officials.

It's noteworthy that since the Pahalgam attack, the Indian government has been proactive in its response. One of the first measures was to suspend the Indus Water Treaty between India and Pakistan. A formal communication was sent to Pakistan, notifying them of the suspension.

At a Cabinet Committee meeting on security matters, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, several stringent decisions were made, including the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty. This treaty, effective since 1960, is considered vital for Pakistan, as it relies on the Indus River and its four tributaries to meet the water needs of over 210 million people.

Additionally, a decision was made to close the Attari border. Pakistani citizens in India have been given until May 1 to return via this route. Pakistani defense advisors stationed at the High Commission in India have been given a week to depart. Moreover, the number of employees at both High Commissions has been reduced from 50 to 30.

The terrorist attack in Pahalgam claimed the lives of 26 tourists and injured 17 others on April 22.
