In the throes of the Lok Sabha election campaign, seasoned Congress leader and former Defence Minister AK Antony has made a significant assertion about his son. He stated, 'Anil Antony should lose the elections.' He added, 'Each day, the Indian Bloc is gaining momentum while BJP is on the decline. I sense an opportunity for us to establish a government. Our party, Congress, is unwavering in its fight against PM Narendra Modi, BJP, and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
It is worth mentioning that Anil Antony is the BJP candidate from the South Kerala Lok Sabha seat, posing a challenge to the Congress candidate, Anto Antony. On Tuesday, in a conversation with journalists, AK Antony declared that his son (the BJP candidate) should be defeated in favor of the Congress candidate, Anto Antony. He also condemned Congress leaders' children for joining BJP.
Addressing questions about his son's foray into politics, AK Antony stated, 'Congress is my creed.' He articulated that it is erroneous for the children of Congress leaders to affiliate and run with BJP. As far as I am concerned, my political career has always remained distinct from family relationships.
What did AK Antony say about BJP opening an account?
He noted, 'The inclination is towards the UDF (Congress-led alliance) across all 20 seats. In the previous Lok Sabha elections, BJP garnered the highest votes due to the Sabarimala issue. This time around, their vote percentage on all seats is expected to wane, placing them in the third position. The Indian Front is making strides daily, and the BJP is foundering. Our performance keeps improving. We stand a chance to form the government.'
Antony highlighted that the Income Tax Department has frozen Congress's funds amounting to 115 crores. The Enforcement Directorate questioned Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. Rahul Gandhi faced 20 cases for criticizing Savarkar. Nevertheless, the Nehru family is at the forefront, combatting BJP. He insisted, 'BJP must be defeated in Pathanamthitta, where my son Anil Antony is contesting on an NDA ticket. Congress should triumph in Pathanamthitta, where the Congress candidate Anto Antony deserves victory. AK Antony is a man of Congress; my faith is Congress.'
'Kerala won't take CM Vijayan's allegations seriously,' says AK Antony
Responding to accusations by Kerala's Chief Minister P Vijayan, AK Antony expressed, 'I believe the Chief Minister of Kerala does not grasp the dynamics of the country's politics. Nationally, the Congress Party and Rahul Gandhi are engaging in a fierce battle against Modi, RSS, and BJP. Due to this, they have faced considerable criticism. I'm convinced that the people of Kerala won't take CM Vijayan's charges seriously.
'CM Vijayan had leveled allegations'
Previously, on Monday, Kerala's Chief Minister had alleged that BJP and Congress are targeting the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board despite his efforts to ensure developmental activities in all constituencies of the state. P Vijayan, who had appeared in an election campaign in the Pathanamthitta district, told journalists that Congress harbors a different stance regarding the central investigative agencies, which have launched probes against KIIFB for political motives.
