In the aftermath of a cloudburst in Dharali village, Uttarkashi, stranded individuals are being rescued to safety. Tourists from various states present at the time were left stranded as communication lines, including electricity and networks, were disrupted. Rescuers guided individuals safely over debris as high as 80 feet.
A couple from Bengaluru, rescued from Dharali, recounted, "Our hotel survived, while all the others nearby collapsed. As soon as the disaster struck, we grabbed our essentials and left immediately. We're incredibly fortunate to have come out safe."
For those who returned unscathed from this catastrophic event, a sense of relief is evident on their faces, yet the haunting memories linger in their eyes.

Krishna, a tourist from Maharashtra visiting Dharali, explained that their group of 18, including 10 women, was en route for the Char Dham Yatra and had stopped seven kilometers short of Dharali in Bhairav Valley at the time of the incident.
'Couldn’t contact home for two days...'
A woman from the Maharashtra group expressed their anxiety over two days, unable to reach home. The military facilitated communication with their families, who were worried after witnessing the news on TV. Another woman mentioned they are relieved now but faced significant distress during the ordeal, as did their families back home.

Determined to complete their journey...
Tourist Krishna shared that they visited Gangotri on the fifth and learned about the cloudburst by afternoon. He expressed gratitude for the government-provided facilities.
Survivors who narrowly escaped the jaws of death remain resolute to complete their Char Dham pilgrimage before returning home, a testament to their undeterred spirit despite the horrifying incident.
