The Trump administration has begun a strict crackdown on illegal immigrants residing in the United States. Among those deported from America, 33 are Gujarati, mostly from Mehsana district in northern Gujarat. Families of two deported individuals have shared harrowing tales of their relatives' journey to America.

Nikita from the village of Dabhla, near Visnagar in Mehsana, has returned home. Her family was contacted by a news source, where her father Kanubhai Patel stated that although she claimed to embark on a European tour, she had secretly traveled to America. The news of her return has left the family anxious.

'With a Visa for Europe'

Nikita's father explained that she went on a European visa with two girlfriends a month prior. Their last conversation occurred around January 14-15, and she only mentioned staying in Europe. The family came to know via media that 33 people from Gujarat were being sent back. Recently, she completed her M.Sc. but hadn’t secured a job. What lay next in her plans was unknown to them.

Criticizing Trump's decision, Nikita's father remarked that many from Gujarat and Punjab reside in America and should not be sent back, noting that families undergo stress when members spend money to go there.

Similarly, three members of the Gohil family from Boru village in Gandhinagar, namely Kiran Singh, his wife Mittalben, and son Heyansh, have returned from the United States. They had traveled to America just a month ago.

'No Information on How They Reached America'

Kiran Singh's mother expressed that she had no information about how her son, daughter-in-law, and grandson reached America. Upon learning of their impending return, she became emotional, expressing relief that they were coming back, as she hadn't heard from them for the last 15 days. Concern for her son lingered within her.

Villagers claim they were unaware of Kiran's journey to America. They mentioned that his family owns ancestral land, and he had been working minor jobs locally.

Strict Measures on Illegal Immigrants by Trump Administration

Following a report from The New York Times, America commenced firm actions against illegal immigrants. Deportations have included individuals from Mexico, India, Pakistan, Cuba, and several African nations, who entered through routes known as the 'Donkey Route'.

The images of these deportations have been startling, depicting scenes of military and police tying immigrants like criminals and sending them back aboard enormous planes. In some images, individuals have chains on their hands, stand in queues, or wait to return home with uncertain and dejected expressions.
