Uttar Pradesh's Finance Minister Suresh Khanna described the GST reforms as beneficial for both consumers and traders, claiming it would boost demand and create job opportunities. He noted that revenue isn't always consistent, with fluctuations being natural. In every way, this is a decision that will provide significant benefits.

On Tuesday, Suresh Khanna was speaking at the 'Viksit Uttar Pradesh Summit' hosted by AajTak in Lucknow. If revisions in the GST slabs are so advantageous, why weren't they simplified six years ago? In response, Khanna stated that any new system takes time to become foolproof. He said it was a demand of the entire nation and that there were diverse taxes like 10% and 12%, which have now been simplified. Khanna praised GST as an excellent experiment, stating that it is functioning well.

In 2018, a report labeled India's GST as the most complex tax system. Addressing this, Suresh Khanna said that simplification often came up in the GST Council, but decisions are collective. There's no answer to why it didn't happen earlier. He said that on the third, the GST Council passed this proposal.

He shared that the system was implemented 15-16 days later, a timeframe given for widespread acceptance. We're decreasing taxes, and people are pleased. Regarding UP's achievements and surplus revenue, he stated that they adhered to financial discipline and curbed unnecessary expenditures.

Khanna highlighted that under the Congress government, a decision entailed that income would be the individual's responsibility, but the government would pay taxes. We have discontinued this. Before coming into power, the entire system was derailed, which we promptly rectified, yielding significant improvements.

Khanna stated that wherever deemed unnecessary, it was eliminated. Decisions were taken for projects to progress efficiently and results to be timely. UP leads in the consumer appliance sector, and when questioned about investments over the last five years, he listed government-initiated steps, noting diverse incentives across various fields.

Responding to Akhilesh Yadav's claim of startups thriving during previous governance, he rhetorically asked why their party lost the elections then.
