U.S. President Donald Trump has urged the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) to cut oil prices, arguing that it would stop the Russia-Ukraine war. Earlier, while addressing the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, via video conference, Trump accused OPEC nations of contributing to the conflict in Ukraine for nearly three years.

Speaking to reporters in North Carolina on Friday, Trump emphasized, "We want OPEC to reduce oil prices. It will automatically stop the tragedy unfolding in Ukraine—this is a grave calamity for both parties involved (Russia and Ukraine). Right now, it's just bullets flying and lives lost. Over a million people have perished, and they're losing thousands more weekly."

Trump claimed that countless Russian and Ukrainian soldiers have perished in the war. It's insanity—a war engulfed in madness that would never have happened if I were still President. It's absurd that this occurred, but we are determined to halt it.

Trump’s Argument

Trump explained, "One immediate way to stop this is for OPEC to stop profiting so heavily and reduce oil prices. If prices remain high, this war won’t come to an easy end. That's why OPEC needs to step forward and lower oil prices. Afterward, the war will stop itself."

At Davos, Trump remarked, "I've dismantled the Green New Deal, which I call the Green New Scam. I withdrew from the one-sided Paris Climate Agreement and scrapped the costly electric vehicle mandate. The United States has more oil and gas reserves than any other nation, and we're going to use it. I am also asking Saudi Arabia and OPEC to reduce oil prices; they must bring them down."

Initially, the U.S. President expressed a desire to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin as soon as possible to negotiate with Ukraine.

Trump warned his Russian counterparts to end the ridiculous war in Ukraine or face high tariffs and severe sanctions, as mentioned on his Truth Social platform.
