In New Friends Colony, Delhi, a devastating electrical accident claimed the life of a young man. It transpired in a parking area that had become flooded, leading to electric currents flowing through the water. Come Saturday evening, a worker engaged in the area came into contact with this electrified water, ultimately meeting a tragic end. The deceased was identified as 21-year-old Kartik.
Upon being alerted to the incident, police rushed to the scene and took possession of the body, sending it for autopsy. The police investigation is currently underway. Kartik was reported to have been a contract employee with the Jal Board, tasked on Saturday evening with operating a pump to clear the accumulated water in the parking basement.
Man Was Pumping Water Out When Electrocuted
The man received a severe shock as soon as he came in contact with the charged water. In haste, the people present rushed him to the nearby Holy Family Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. A colleague, Saddam, revealed that the boy had gone down to the basement that Saturday evening where he then suffered the electric shock and collapsed on the spot.
Water Persistently Accumulates in Parking Area
Saddam explained that the parking area was perennially waterlogged. There is a ground-level parking and three constructed floors. The lowest floor is always inundated. Kartik's duty was to clear this water, and it was in the course of performing this duty that he suffered the mishap, leading to his untimely death. Similarly, local resident Rahul Bhardwaj reported that the basement has been perpetually flooded since the construction of the parking years ago.
