While the cold retreats from most of North India, mornings and evenings in some states still have a nip in the air. Citizens of New Delhi felt a noticeable chill today, labeling it the coolest day of March so far, with a mercury drop to 8.8°C – five degrees below the seasonal average.

A high of 25°C anticipated today

The weather department forecasts that in New Delhi, the skies will remain partly cloudy on March 7th. The historical data from IMD suggests that, over the past 12 years, the first week of March in Delhi usually saw the mercury ranging between 10 to 18°C. According to recent trends, the temperature gap between the lowest and highest may widen in the coming days.

New Delhi's AQI hits 179

Regarding pollution, at around 9 AM today, New Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) was registered at 179, with Mundka recording an AQI of 295. In Punjabi Bagh, the AQI read 198, while Anand Vihar hit 197, and RK Puram measured an AQI of 183.

It's essential to know that an AQI between zero to 50 is considered 'Good', 51 to 100 is 'Satisfactory', 101 to 200 is 'Moderate', 201 to 300 is 'Poor', 301 to 400 is 'Very Poor', and 401 to 500 is accounted as 'Severe'. Anything beyond 500 falls into the 'Severe Plus' category.
