India's ODI captain Shubman Gill believes that the presence of senior batsmen Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli simplifies the art of captaincy at the highest level. Gill emphasized how their experience and calm demeanor act as a safety net in pressure situations, allowing young leaders to trust in their decisions and game awareness.

During the pre-match press conference in Vadodara, ahead of the ODI series with New Zealand, the Indian captain elaborated on why the presence of Rohit and Kohli is such a huge advantage in the dressing room.

Gill stated, 'The two names you mentioned are quite extraordinary. Rohit Sharma is among the all-time great openers, and Virat Bhai is one of the finest batsmen in ODI cricket history. So, naturally, when you have these two in your team, life gets a lot easier.'

India's Test and ODI captain Shubman Gill has outright dismissed rumors about dressing room conflicts. Speculations were rife about differences between the team management and the senior players given their performance ahead of the 2027 ODI World Cup. However, Gill rejected these claims, lavishly praising Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma for their commitment to Indian cricket.

Gill remarked, 'I believe the team environment is excellent. The players you've mentioned have been part of this scene for decades, and they are always striving to push Indian cricket forward. You saw in the last series how well they performed, so I think the current team environment is very positive.'
