In Seraikela, Jharkhand, a sudden lightning strike took the lives of three individuals, including a mother and her child, causing heart-wrenching tragedy. Three others were grievously injured and are currently receiving treatment in the hospital. The incident occurred while all were grazing goats in the Bhadudiha football field, seeking refuge under a nearby tarpaulin from the rain when lightning struck suddenly, causing everyone to collapse to the ground.
In an urgent response, ambulances rushed the victims to MGM Hospital. Upon arrival, 35-year-old Subhadra Majhi, her 9-year-old son Viresh Majhi, and Suku Mardi were declared deceased by doctors. Meanwhile, medical treatment is ongoing for Indrajit Singh, Gurupad, and Sugi Murmu. Notably, there were no large trees at the accident site.
Three Dead from Lightning Strike in Jharkhand
Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leader Sukhram Hembram visited MGM Hospital to check on the injured. Expressing condolences to the families of the deceased, he remarked that the incident is profoundly saddening, with the simultaneous loss of a mother and son from one family. The tragedy struck around 4:30 PM, leaving the relatives in utter despair.
Grief Engulfs the Families of the Deceased
It should be noted that the previous Friday, in the Bokaro district of Jharkhand, two individuals were also fatally struck by lightning. This incident occurred as they were returning home after attending a funeral in the village of Nutandih, under the Barmain police station.
