The fingerprints collected from Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan's home have matched with those of the Bangladeshi suspect Mohammad Shariful Islam. The Mumbai Police Crime Branch took fingerprints from Saif's son Jahangir’s room, the door handles, the bathroom door, and the stairs. These prints were sent for forensic analysis and matched with the suspect.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Police have stationed two constables in two shifts outside Saif’s Bandra residence. A police officer stated, "We have provided temporary police security outside Saif's Satguru Sharan building in Bandra West. Two constables from the Bandra police station will be stationed there in shifts. For added security, CCTV cameras and window grills have also been installed. Interrogation of the accused continues."
The accused, Mohammad Shariful Islam, will be presented in court on Friday, where a request will be made to extend his police custody. On Sunday, the court had remanded the suspect to a five-day police custody. Since then, extensive questioning has been ongoing, and the crime scene has been recreated. Departments such as TASI, Biology, DNA, Footprints, Physics, and Cyber from the FSL have been involved in the investigation.
A police officer mentioned, "During the investigation, the third part of the knife used in the attack on Saif was recovered near a pond. We took the suspect to the pond on Wednesday evening and retrieved the missing piece of the knife. During the attack, a fragment of the knife was left embedded near the actor's spine, which was later removed by doctors at Lilavati Hospital."

The accused, Mohammad Shariful Islam, has been found to possess Bangladeshi identification. The Mumbai Police Crime Branch recovered his Bangladeshi ID card and driving license, where his name is listed as Shariful Islam. His father’s name is Mohammad Ruhul Amin, and he is 31 years old.
Shariful was illegally residing in Mumbai under the alias Vijay Das. Originally from Barisal, Bangladesh, he had been living in Mumbai for the last five months, working various odd jobs through a housekeeping agency. Seven months ago, he illegally crossed the Dawki River into India, spending some weeks in West Bengal before moving to Mumbai in search of work.
Earlier, after questioning the suspect, the police revealed that he climbed over the wall of the Satguru Sharan building to reach Saif Ali Khan's Bandra flat. When he arrived, the security guards were asleep. One police officer noted, "Saif Ali Khan resides in a building where both security guards were asleep. The assailant scaled the boundary wall to gain entry."
They further stated, "Upon finding both security guards in deep slumber, the accused entered through the main door, where no CCTV cameras were installed. To avoid making noise, he removed his shoes, placing them in his bag, and also switched off his phone. The investigation revealed that there were no CCTV cameras installed in the corridors of the building and the guards were resting comfortably."
