Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan’s home was the scene of an alleged deadly attack by Md. Shariful Islam Shehzad. The accused’s father, Ruhul Amin, has made a substantial claim, arguing that the person captured in Saif’s home CCTV footage is not his son. In an exclusive conversation with India Today, he asserted that there is no resemblance between his son and the individual depicted in the video.

Shariful Islam’s father commented, "The person in the CCTV footage from Saif Ali Khan’s home is not my son. That person’s hair is very long, while my son typically keeps his hair short, akin to military personnel." He shared that Shariful has completed his secondary education and was operating a bike-rickshaw to support the family.

Ruhul Amin worked in a jute mill in Khulna, Bangladesh, until 2007, after which he returned to his village to engage in farming. Evidence has surfaced confirming that the alleged assailant, Md. Shariful Islam Shehzad, is indeed Bangladeshi. Mumbai Police’s crime branch has secured his Bangladeshi ID card and driver’s license, which are under the name Shariful Islam.

The documents acquired by the police have confirmed his father’s name as Md. Ruhul Amin. This past Sunday, Shariful Islam Shehzad alias Mohammad Rohilla Amin Fakir was detained. He had been living illegally in Mumbai under the alias Vijay Das. Originally from Barishal, Bangladesh, he had been residing in Mumbai for the past five months.

According to Mumbai Police, Shariful was associated with a housekeeping agency. Seven months ago, he illegally crossed the Dawki River into India. After spending a few weeks in West Bengal, he moved to Mumbai in search of employment. He obtained a SIM card using a local resident's Aadhaar card registered under the name Khukhomoni Jahangir Sekha.

Mumbai Police's crime branch is actively investigating the case. The accused is currently in police custody, and continuous interrogations are underway. Several departments within the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) at Kalina, Mumbai, will examine the evidence seized by police, including mobile phones, the suspect's clothing, and CCTV footage.

Public discourse around the alleged lethal attack on Saif Ali Khan has been vibrant, as people continually raise questions about it. The police theory has been met with skepticism from political arenas to social media platforms. Maharashtra’s minister, Nitesh Rane, stirred controversy by questioning whether the attack on Saif actually took place or if it was a performance. His remarks came a day after Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam cast doubt on Saif’s quick recovery from a severe wound incurred during a six-hour surgery, saying, "How can someone recover so swiftly after such a major operation?"
