At Saharanpur's Janmat Auditorium on Friday, the police department held a special event as part of the National Cyber Security Awareness Month. The goal was to protect children and young adults from digital threats and cyber fraud. From early morning, the auditorium was bustling with schoolchildren. On stage, cyber expert Dr. Rakshit Tandon explained in simple and engaging terms how the internet can be both a boon and a bane.
The Director General of Police inaugurated the program virtually from Lucknow. Present on stage were the Divisional Commissioner, DIG, District Magistrate, and SSP Saharanpur. SSP Ashish Tiwari reminded the children that cyber fraud is just a click away.
Cyber Security Awareness Campaign
He warned that misuse of tools like AI and ChatGPT can dull our minds. He urged children not to share any files, links, or information online thoughtlessly. He noted that nowadays, it's not just photo theft, but manipulation of photos that's causing significant harm as fake images going viral can lead to big losses.
Think before You Use Technology
DIG Abhishek Singh mentioned that this campaign will extend from Saharanpur across the entire Meerut zone. He stated that police personnel will also receive training to combat cybercrime. Through Q&A and a quiz competition, Dr. Rakshit Tandon educated children on the dangers of fake videos, photos, and news. At the program's conclusion, police officials honored students who gave correct answers. This event underscored that cyber security is not only about technology but also a matter of mindset. Saharanpur has emerged as a beacon of awareness on this front.
