In the run-up to the Bihar Assembly elections, the Janata Dal (United) has taken a stern stance against internal rebellion. The party has expelled 11 rebel leaders who had decided to contest the elections independently.
In a letter by State General Secretary Chandan Kumar Singh, it was highlighted that these leaders worked against the party's ideology, discipline, and organizational conduct, leading to their suspension from the party's primary membership and subsequent expulsion.
It should be noted that JDU is contesting in 101 seats in Bihar, attempting its luck in 57 seats during the first phase, and 44 in the second phase. Notably, out of the 43 MLAs JDU had in 2020, over half won from the seats in the first phase.
