Rohit Sharma Will Not Be Traveling to Australia:
The Indian team faces a challenging five-match Test series against Australia in their hometown. The opening test is set for November 22 in Perth. However, a major setback strikes the team before the kickoff. Indian captain Rohit Sharma will not be joining the team on the Australian tour.
It is evident that Rohit Sharma will miss the first Test match of the series. Vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah may have to take up the leading role in his absence. Notably, Rohit is about to become a father for the second time. It is anticipated that his wife, Ritika Sajdeh, might give birth in the coming days. Thus, Rohit plans to stay by her side.
Rohit Will Not Attend the Press Conference
Recently, reports suggested that Rohit might fly with the first batch of the Indian team to Australia. He could potentially return between the first and the second Test if necessary. But now, all these possibilities seem to have evaporated.
The Indian team plans to depart for the Australian tour in two batches on November 11 and 12. Before this, Team India's head coach Gautam Gambhir will hold a press conference in Mumbai on November 11 at 9 AM. Had Rohit been part of this batch, he would have been involved in the media interaction. The Indian squad has left for Australia, and Rohit is notably absent. A video showcasing this has also surfaced.
