The Telecommunications Department (DoT), part of India's Ministry of Communications, has shared some important insights. They revealed that in October of this year, 50,000 stolen or lost mobile handsets were successfully recovered.

The rate of mobile recovery is on the rise each month. Compared to June, there was a 47% increase in the number of returned handsets in October. Over 700,000 mobiles have been recovered to date.

In 2023, the DoT launched the Sanchar Saathi platform. Thanks to this platform, more than 700,000 mobile phones have already been recovered. This information is sourced from the Akashvani Portal.

The majority of phones were recovered from Telangana, Karnataka, and Maharashtra. The count of recovered mobiles is growing each month. As awareness about Sanchar Saathi spreads, the recovery numbers are soaring.

The DoT urges people to install the Sanchar Saathi app on their smartphones. This app doesn't just help in reporting, blocking, and locating stolen phones but also aids in identifying counterfeit mobile devices.

The Sanchar Saathi app boasts a variety of new features. Users can easily check how many SIM cards are active under their name. By clicking on the 'Know Mobile Connections in Your Name' option within the Sanchar Saathi app or portal, you can see how many SIM cards are activated on your ID.
