Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a fierce attack on the Central Government concerning farmers' issues. He made it clear that even if an FIR is filed, a lawsuit is initiated, or a privilege motion is brought against him, he will continue to fight for farmers' rights without retreating. In a video message on the social media platform X, Rahul Gandhi emphasized that farmers are the backbone of the nation, and India's food security entirely depends on them.
He accused the Modi government of inflicting damage on the country's farmers through a trade agreement with the United States. According to him, such agreements threaten the livelihood of cotton, soybeans, apple, and fruit producers and could weaken the nation's food security. Rahul Gandhi reiterated that any trade deal harming farmers' interests is inherently anti-farmer.
Gandhi also alleged that foreign forces have long attempted to dominate India's agricultural market, and the current government has opened the doors for them. He highlighted that while American farmers possess thousands of acres of land with hefty government subsidies, Indian farmers struggle with small plots and do not receive adequate minimum support price (MSP).
The Congress leader also accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of favoring industrialists. He mentioned the previous controversial agricultural laws introduced by the government and alleged a current effort to open the agricultural sector for the benefit of foreign and large domestic companies. Rahul Gandhi vowed to continue raising the truth about farmers' issues in Parliament, no matter the consequences he might face.
He also asserted that Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, party leadership, and all workers stand with the farmers and will not tolerate any injustice towards them. Rahul Gandhi reiterated his unwavering support for farmers, vowing not to back down an inch.
