Punjab Police in Tarn Taran have arrested three individuals in a reprehensible case where a woman was assaulted, stripped, and her dignity was filmed and circulated online. In a shocking development in Valtova, Tarn Taran, a family brutally assaulted their neighbor, subsequently disrobing her and virally sharing the resultant video.
The victim's plight began after her son's marriage to a local girl sparked fury in the bride's family, leading to this savage revenge.
The victim detailed to the police how the enraged family members of the young bride shouted outside her home, escalating to the assault once she emerged. The offenders tore her clothes, recorded her, and distributed the footage on social media, drawing local and police attention.
Throughout the ordeal, the woman's cries for help went unheard. The incident's video sparked outrage within the community, pressuring the police to take swift action. The victim alleged her initial complaint on the night of March 31st got serious attention only after the incident gained exposure.
Three culprits apprehended, one absconding
Despite initial inaction, the police, spurred by the growing outcry, registered the case on April 4th. The Women's Commission has since demanded a police report. On Saturday, taking decisive steps, the police apprehended three family members linked to the case. Amongst the detained are Kulwinder Kaur, her son Gurcharan Singh, and a young man known as Sunny. The police are currently interrogating them.
In regard to the incident, Tarn Taran's SSP Ashwani Kapoor revealed that immediate action followed the event's disclosure. Multiple teams conducted searches, resulting in the arrest of three suspects, while the hunt for two additional accomplices continues. Measures are also underway to eliminate the humiliating video from social media.
