From Congress MP to BJP member, Preneet Kaur, spouse of Captain Amarinder Singh and Patiala's parliamentary representative, has taken a decisive political leap. Expressing her commitment to the party promising a brighter future for the youth, Kaur states her policy-driven choice to join BJP.
"I've tirelessly served my constituency. I firmly believe PM Narendra Modi is the guardian of our children's prosperous future," asserts Kaur.
Captain Amarinder parts with Congress and ventures into new political horizons
The high command's shift of power from Amarinder Singh to Charanjit Singh Channi on September 20, 2021, prompted Singh's departure from Congress. Forming his own party, Punjab Lok Congress, he allied with BJP to taste a bitter defeat in the political arena of Punjab.
Once a Congress stalwart for two decades and close to the Gandhi family, Captain Amarinder Singh now raises the flag against his former party.
His political journey began at the behest of former PM Rajiv Gandhi, who trusted Amarinder to bring a victory to Congress in Punjab. Subsequently, disillusioned by Operation Blue Star, Singh parted ways with Congress, seeking refuge in Akali Dal.
