Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated two key national highway projects on Sunday: The Dwarka Expressway Delhi section and Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II). PM Modi also conducted a roadshow in Rohini, Delhi, and addressed a public gathering.
Alongside the Prime Minister were Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Chief Minister of Delhi Rekha Gupta, and Haryana's Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. These projects, with a combined cost of approximately INR 11,000 crore, are set to significantly ease Delhi's notorious traffic congestion and bolster connectivity.

The Journey Time Reduced to Just 40 Minutes
With the commencement of UER-II, travel becomes incredibly simple. Previously, it took two and a half hours to travel from Singhu Border to Dwarka Expressway, but now the journey will only take 40 minutes. Additionally, approximately 300,000 vehicles entering Delhi daily can avoid the city entirely.

What Makes the Delhi Section of Dwarka Expressway Special?
The Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway is remarkable in its own right. Stretching 10.1 kilometers, it was built at a cost of INR 5,360 crore. This section spans 5.9 kilometers from Shiv Murti Chowk to Sector 21 of Dwarka and extends another 4.2 kilometers from Sector 21 to the Delhi-Haryana border. It offers multi-modal connectivity by linking Yashobhoomi, DMRC's Blue and Orange lines, the upcoming Bijwasan railway station, and the Dwarka Cluster bus depot.
A Game-Changer in Traffic Management
According to government claims, these two projects will revolutionize traffic management in the Delhi-NCR region. While the Dwarka Expressway will provide significant relief to commuters, UER-II is designed to alleviate traffic pressure from densely populated areas. This, in turn, will accelerate economic activities.
