On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a visit to Kanpur, where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for 15 mega-development projects valued at over 47,573 crore rupees. This event is anticipated to be a milestone for the economic, social, and environmental advancement not only for Kanpur but for the whole of Uttar Pradesh. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will also grace the occasion alongside Prime Minister Modi, who will inaugurate the new underground section of the Kanpur Metro Rail project from Chunnikganj to Kanpur Central.
This route includes five newly constructed underground stations at Chunnikganj, Bada Chauraha, Naveen Market, Nayaganj, and Kanpur Central. With this expansion, significant city landmarks such as Lal Imli, Z Square Mall, Green Park Stadium, Parade Ground, Book Market, and Somdutt Plaza will now be easily accessible by metro. Currently, nine stations are operational from IIT Kanpur to Motijheel, and this extension will offer a more accessible, safer, and faster commute.

Initiation of Power Projects in Ghatampur and Panki
In Ghatampur, Prime Minister Modi will launch three 660 MW units and a thermal power project in Panki. These initiatives aim to ensure consistent and ample electricity supply, benefiting Uttar Pradesh and its neighboring states. Moreover, the inauguration of two new railway bridges from the Panki Power Plant to Kalyanpur will facilitate the seamless supply of coal and fuel, thus enhancing power plant efficiency and easing traffic congestion.
Another highlight will be the inauguration of a 40 MLD capacity tertiary treatment plant in Binagwan by Prime Minister Modi. This plant will treat sewage water, making it reusable for industrial and irrigation purposes, thus promoting water conservation and recycling. Additionally, a new fire station along with residential and non-residential buildings will be inaugurated in the Bithoor region of Kanpur, enabling swift response in emergencies.

Prime Minister to Unveil State-Level Projects
During this visit, Prime Minister Modi will also virtually inaugurate several projects located in other regions of Uttar Pradesh. This includes two 132 kV power substations in Greater Noida, the C-section of Jawaharpur, and Obra power plant, as well as thermal projects in Khurja. These projects aim to significantly enhance energy supply and industrial production across the state.
PM to Lay Foundation for New Projects Worth 441 Crores
Prime Minister Modi will also lay the foundation for three new projects exceeding 441 crore rupees, focused on improving smart infrastructure, traffic systems, and urban services in Kanpur and its surrounding areas. Projects include the widening and strengthening of Gauria Pali Road into four lanes and the expansion of the Defense Corridor’s AH-1 route from Narwal intersection on the Prayagraj highway to the Kanpur Defense Node. Additionally, the construction of a 220 kV substation at sector 28 YEIDA, Gautam Buddh Nagar, is included. Moreover, beneficiaries of central schemes like the PM Ayushman Bharat, PM Vaya Vandana Yojana, National Livelihood Mission, and PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme will receive certificates and checks.
PM Modi to Meet Family of Shubham Dwivedi
Prime Minister Modi will meet the family of Shubham Dwivedi, who was martyred in the Pahalgam terrorist attack. Shubham Dwivedi's family will be transported to Chakeri Airport, where Kanpur district administration will facilitate the visit. PM Modi will first meet Shubham Dwivedi's family and subsequently proceed to the event venue.
