In this hotel room, two narrow beds barely accommodate a person each. Sajid and Naveed Akram placed their beds close together. Hotel staff noted that throughout their stay, the two never seemed to leave town; they were seen entering and leaving daily.

For 27 days, this hotel in Davao, positioned on the southern edge of the Philippines, was the hideout for the notorious father-son terrorist duo. The 'Sydney Morning Herald' has chronicled the details of their extended stay.

Known as GV Hotel, staff member Janeline Sayson reported that father and son shared room 315 near the city hall and police headquarters, remaining there for close to a month.

Philippine immigration officials confirmed Sajid and Naveed Akram entered on November 1st and departed on the 28th, with Davao as their intended destination.

Initially reserving the room for a week on November 1st, they extended their stay thrice, each time for another week.

Sayson revealed their outdoor trips lasted merely one to two hours at a time.

Davao offers affordable hotels, attracting even those involved in the Bondi Beach incident, who extended their initially brief stay.

She also mentioned the absence of CCTV footage, as their system only holds a week’s records, although military officers have confiscated the hotel’s computer hard drive.

Naveed Akram registered using a local phone number.

According to hotel workers, the Akrams barely communicated with the staff, received no visitors, and were seen with Jollibee fast-food wrappings in their room.

Sayson conveyed to local site Minda News, "We assumed they had business in town, as they went out and returned regularly."

They traveled with a large suitcase and backpack, paying with cash upon deciding to extend their stay.

Rooms at GV Hotel in Davao are available online for merely $22 per night, situated near the city's business district.

Davao, the southern mindanao city, has a known history of Islamist militant influences, including the Islamic State East Asia (ISEA).

Post-massacre, Australian police discovered homemade Islamic State flags in Akram’s vehicle, yet Philippine authorities state there's no training evidence.${strong} "One encounter does not substantiate training allegations, and their stay was too short for structured training," emphasized national security advisor Eduardo Año.

Since 2017, no traces of ISIS-linked training have surfaced here.

The Hanukkah celebration on December 14, 2025, at Bondi Beach turned tragic when a terrorist attack claimed 15 lives. Sajid perished, while his son Naveed was severely injured but is now under police custody following hospital treatment.
